Collection: People

Before I started school, my mother sent me to ballet classes once a week.  Sadly, it was never explained to me or, at least, I never comprehended, that the aim of ballet is to be light on one's feet and graceful in one's movements. I thought the goal was to skip higher and faster than everyone else. 

My mother decided that I was not suited to ballet either because I was held back from moving up a class when my fellow four year olds moved on or when my complaints that it "made my arms hurt" wore her down sufficiently. 

Anyway, my brief brush with ballet has not detracted from my interest in it and my marvel at the lengths and effort ballerinas will go to for their art.  My sketches of ballerinas attempt to capture their elegance and strength.
