Collection: Vegetables

For about five minutes, my grandfather attempted to share with me some of his watercolour top tips.  Amongst the lessons I recall, he painted a perfect apple and an orange.  My efforts were appalling and I suspect that my frustration at not being able to match his standards resulted in an end to our sessions. Although, it might also have had something to do with how I could not paint without my nose being 5mm from the paper and my grandfather being incapable of not pointing this out constantly.  It took me almost four decades before I dared to risk a still life again. Lockdown was the catalyst. I became obsessed with the odd shaped, ulta-shiny vegetables in my family's and friends' gardens and decided to record them for posterity.
