Collection: Buildings

If I had been capable of completing a maths A-level, which I definitely was not, I would have applied to study architecture or architectural design.  My imagination fills the void left by my lack of technical knowledge of architecture.  I wander around staring in wonder at buildings in cities, towns and villages, furtively googling information as to why a district came to be be filled with so many beautiful homes and/or why a community developed in that place initially.

I love a building, especially if it is comprised of wonky bricks.  I need details for my drawings to work well so I like them in my subject matter.  I am drawn to different styles of windows, unusual stone patterns and discoloured roof tiles.

The buildings I draw reflect the places I have lived (England, Netherlands and Singapore) and a few places I have visited on holidays where I have had my pens and paints with me and a bit of time (Germany, Austria and Italy).

I love drawing people’s homes – the quirkier the better, so please contact me if you would like to commission me.
